1. Policy Purpose & Overview
Bharat Skill Development Center Charitable Trust values the immense contribution of its volunteers. This policy defines the relationship between the Trust and its volunteers, outlining expectations, responsibilities, and benefits to ensure a productive, safe, and rewarding experience for everyone.
2. Our Commitment to Volunteers
- Meaningful, well‑defined roles with clear objectives.
- Thorough induction and necessary training.
- Ongoing support and supervision by a designated staff member.
- Safe, inclusive, and harassment‑free environment.
- Reimbursement for pre‑approved, role‑related expenses (per procedure).
- Recognition and appreciation for contributions.
3. Volunteer Responsibilities & Expectations
- Reliability: Perform duties as agreed and give advance notice for absences.
- Professionalism: Uphold the Trust’s mission and policies (Code of Conduct, Child Protection, Anti‑Harassment, Health & Safety).
- Confidentiality: Protect sensitive information about the Trust, staff, beneficiaries, and volunteers.
- Respect & Inclusivity: Treat everyone with dignity and without discrimination.
- Acceptance of Guidance: Work under designated supervision and accept feedback constructively.
4. Recruitment & Selection
- Roles filled based on skills, experience, and suitability without discrimination.
- Completion of a volunteer application form.
- Reference and background checks (e.g., police verification) where required, especially for work with children or vulnerable adults.
5. Orientation & Training
- General orientation about the Trust, mission, and policies.
- Role‑specific training to prepare volunteers effectively.
6. Working Hours & Expenses
- Schedules are agreed with supervisors and kept flexible where possible.
- Reimbursement of reasonable, pre‑approved travel and essential expenses upon receipt submission.
7. Health & Safety
- Volunteers are covered by the Trust’s accident insurance during official duties.
- Volunteers must take reasonable care for their own and others’ safety.
- All accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions must be reported immediately to the supervisor.
8. Problem Solving & Feedback
- Raise concerns first with the designated supervisor.
- Escalate to the Volunteer Coordinator or senior manager if unresolved.
- Suggestions are welcome to improve programs and volunteer experience.
9. Ending Volunteering
- Volunteers may end their commitment anytime with reasonable notice (e.g., two weeks).
- The Trust may end involvement for policy violations or conduct not in the organization’s best interest—after discussion and warnings, except in cases of serious misconduct.
10. Recognition
The contribution of volunteers is vital. We recognize efforts through informal thanks, appreciation events, and certificates of service.
